A Puzzlement

When we reached Fort Hunt Park on Monday, the flag was at half-staff.

People asked and we had no answer why.

David now explains.

The current regime apparently now plans to lower the flag every time Bill Clinton appears on the NYT op-ed page.

It must be in honor of the fallen redcoats in Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy (present-day Arlington), and Cambridge, MA, back in 1775, shot dead by those pesky Patriot Militiamen.

May I suggest that next year we all go to the Range on April 19.

That may I suggest is the way to commemorate the militia on Lexington Green. If you can't go to an open carry rally or block gun confiscators movements.

Actually, when I arrived at about 0740, the flag was all the way up at the top. A short while later (around 0800 I think) I noticed it had been lowered to half staff so I went to ask Sgt Clark about it. The officers in the patrol car she was next to radioed in and they came back and said it was lowered out of respect for the miners that lost their lives in West Virginia. I didn't think anything else about it until I heard later in the week that it was down because of Oklahoma City. I wish I had taken a picture of it when I first got there to show that it was in fact at full mast earlier and the park maintenance people had to come back to lower it after they were told it needed to be down. I also wish I had some other sort of evidence to show that the officials at the park didn't know about it beforehand either.
I know, it's just my word and you don't really know me, but that's what I was told on Monday morning by Sgt Clark... now that I think about it, Mike was briefly involved in that conversation with Sgt Clark... he may remember it too, the patrol car was parked in the handicapped area facing the speaking area when we were talking about it.
Not that it makes a difference one way or the other.

Obama and the left may call it what they want.

Even Bill Clinton murdering all those people in Waco, is of less historical significance to America than what happenned at Lexington and Concord on 19 April 1775.

Marxists want to forget that whole era, the founders, our notions of liberty and individual responsibility.

To Americans, April 19 has always been "Patriots Day", and will always be that, despite some Marxists attempts to shred our history books.

Someone needs to tell that groundskeeper that half-staff means one flag length from the top, not half-way down the pole!

So it appears that Obama was most likely briefed at least some info about the RTC rally, and it was acknowledged at the highest levels. The info put together here suggests that they made a decision which took the rally into account.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall.

It sure can't be because of the babies blown up on the ground floor day care center that day. Sixteen, or so, was it?
No, that can't be it! It's the government! Yeah, that's it!
