Beck: More On Beck

Who's Who On Radio

Over at Facebook, Rich Nikoley asked me:

"Curiosity, Billy. Setting aside (if you can, just imagine yourself a great actor) obvious philosophical/ethical shortcomings of all of the radio/teevee pundits, how do you stack G Beck amongst the rest - Rush, Savage, Hannity et all? Though spitting fleas' hairs..."

Beck's heart is in the right place. Seriously.

I've been paying attention to him for over a year now, and it has been remarkable to watch this guy turn up some his own education the ways that he has. I see no one in the public sphere like that, learning right in front of everyone like he is. His research is the best in broadcast media today: no one is going as deep he is in history.

The failure that I see in him is his integration of principles. He doesn't really have a theory with which to analyze what he's seeing and what to do about it -- although I must say that his agitation for civil disobedience is right on. His cautions against violence are necessary, and he seems to understand that political dimension of threat from the left.

His bottom line, however, is religion, and that's just nowhere near good enough. He's going crash his own program on those rocks.

Hannity, Savage, and Levin are pikers by comparison. I can't stand Hannity: he's a gibbering idiot. Savage is almost a Jack Kerouac, awake on the wrong side of the bed after fifty years. Levin: you have him right. He's having too much fun with himself.

Only Limbaugh compares with Beck now, and his logic is stunted. Briefly: that fool thinks we're going to vote our way out of this. He's dead wrong. He should now be taking lessons from VDH's article yesterday on "A Nation Of Peasants". That should be a wake-up to people like him. Within the bounds of his logic, however, Limbaugh is very good.

Nobody's going to stay on the air if they start promoting violence. On the other hand, Medved's technique seems to be "no way do I believe xx (violence, birther stuff)...if you do, call in and lets talk about it". That way, he can talk about it but maintains "plausible denial". So...although all of these guys deny the path of possible violence, the fact that they're tsk-tsking it is in itself a form of promoting it. If you _really_ don't want something to happen, you just don't mention it.

Not sayin' you're wrong...just sayin'...

No one I know is "promoting violence". However, there are some of us who will not cower in the face of violence. We will not run when confronted with violence.
we will not submit.

Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, O'Rielly and the rest are all promoting the same old thing. Just vote Republican and everything will be ok. This is just plain idiocy! And they are making big money as shills for the status quo.

Instead of violence, I advocate widespread civil dis-obedience. Massive protests, shut down vast numbers of cities. Make the whole damn world understand that we will not suffer the disregard of our voices.

This is supposed to be government at the consent of the governed. Instead we have a ruling elite, a shadow government callously ignoring the clear dissatisfaction of many. Knowing full well that most Americans are ignorant of law, economics and foreign policy. Those who are not ignorant are pushed aside and their will be damned. This can only result in violence.

Unfortunately, a majority of sheeple still sleep - or are bought and paid-for with our $ and will continue to vote for those who put the teat in their mouth -- not those who would pull it out and send them to fend for themselves.

For this simple reason, I don't think that pure "strikes" or Civil-disobedience can gather enough momentum to change anything.

I've said for a long time that I think Beck is sincere - though a bit misguided - and that he must stay within certain lines or lose his national pulpit.

For this reason, he just can't say what we'd LIKE him to say -- but he eludes to history so much that nobody who is paying attention can possibly overlook the facts of what our Founders did, and how we may be forced to do the same to avoid loss of what is left of our Republic!

There is **NOBODY** with a national voice doing the real, hard work of exposing the vermin in DC and their corrupt connections and acts. I regularly use several of his vids to help educate sleeping sheeple - and his approach is PERFECT for that sort of audience.

One of the best - and most effective - is the "goldman-sachs / web of deceit" vid, which shows that G-S pretty much OWNS our .gov at this point.

I don't agree with everyone 100% -- though "Andrew Wilkow" on Sirius Radio is nearly there, and the one commentator I most recommend to anyone interested in "talk radio" at all.

Wilkow has a way of breaking it down nearly as clearly as Beck - with a more intellectual approach and an almost constant education on how to debate The Enemy and either convert them, or send them scurrying for cover with their tail between their legs - after leveling a string of ad-hominems for concealment as they run like the cowards they are...

But I digress...

I like GB, I have no doubt he's sincere, and doing the best he can under the circumstances to educate and prepare folks for what is coming.

IMHO, it's pretty damn stupid to even CONSIDER making an enemy of a man in such an advantageous position - even if he IS a bit off in some areas.

He's an imperfect friend, but a friend nonetheless. Anyone seeking to demonize him is either (1) an enemy themselves or (2) so misinformed as to be a danger themselves.

Let's encourage the man - not attack him...

At the moment, civil disobedience is the way to go.

Keep repeating... "Only in self-defense... only in self-defense... only in self-defense.

Good article by the way.
