Oleg expresses an idea that resounds far beyond the classroom.

If possible, shoot the first miscreant in the face. It really discourages the others. If the face is not visible, then the lower half usually is, and go for the crotch. Does wonders for the bad guys morale. Just a bit of advice from someone who has shot a few bad guys.

While I completely admire Oleg's work ... I wince when I see someone sheltering behind a flimsy piece of Ikea furniture.

My sergeant would have had a few words with that young lady about the difference between cover and concealment.

If you ain't got cover, then go for concealment. Anything the lady can do to make herself LESS of a target is better than that stand up and shooting shit. Since she has no prepared real cover, a modest amount of concealment, provided by the chair, is what she's got. You gotta improvise, and make improvisation your habit. The prone position is good, but then you lack view. Shoot outs happen, and usually not when, where, and how you want them.

Are you saying we shouldn't pick out our furniture with an eye towards providing cover in a gunfight? :)

Point taken. You use what you got. Hope she gets the first shot.

She is a pretty strong lady. The butt stock spring is too much for my wife to over come. Kel-tec relies on a very strong spring, and I run a 9mm, can only imagine the 40 is worse. AR is just so much easier for the little lady to run.
