Badness.

Best plan?

Be elsewhere.

And if you have to be in that town, where that's happening, stay out of the street, move fast, be silent, and don't stand in doorways or windows to shoot. Get around behind superior forces to attack. Don't fire rifles or machine guns at tanks and APCs', unless you are doing it to attract their attention. Evacuate the non-combatants. And never, ever run down the middle of the street either firing or running away from the bad guys. I saw a lot of automatic fire, and most of it was wasted. Single accurate shots, and then moving to other cover immediately would be much more effective. III.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty bad.

That clip was a "how not to" in guerrilla boots-on-the-street tactics.

Having an open air whatever in a contested AO is stupid.

Going toe to toe in such an AO (or anywhere else, for that matter) with a superior enemy, when cover is abundant and everywhere, is stupid.

Having backing, luck, planetary alignment, and truth on one's side is nice, but utilizing cover, concealment, and halfway decent tactics would be a better start.

Best plan? Be elsewhere.

Second best? Be smart. It isn't cowboys and indians. Use your brain, people.

On the other hand, one can't always dictate the terms of the fight.

I saw a bunch of dead "heroes."

Personally, in such a situation, I'd opt for "live coward."

Even with a mission as important as his appeared to be -- and the story-line indicated they don't (CAN'T!) get more important than his -- still it seems to me it would have been prudent to find a place to hole up until things were a bit less chaotic.
